Brevan Bringhurst Baugh, 41, was arrested July 5 and formally charged Monday with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, both first-degree felonies.
If convicted, each charge carries a 15 years to life prison sentence.
Baugh is accused of sexually assaulting a child under the age of 14 two times, one occurring sometime in 2012 and the other in 2014. A probable cause statement did not say if there was one victim or multiple victims.
Since his arrest, Baugh has posted bail and is no longer in police custody, according to a press release from the Cache County Sheriff’s Office.
Police believe Baugh may have other victims they do not know about.
The Monday morning press release asked for any additional victims to come forward and contact police. Those with information should call Cache County Sheriff’s Detective Bird at 435-755-1180.
Baugh has been a licensed Naturopathic Physician with the state of Utah since 2011, according to online records. As of Monday afternoon, his license is active and will expire in 2020.
It appears that Baugh practices medicine in Providence. The Standard-Examiner reached out to the medical center where he works and left a message, but has not received a response as of Monday afternoon.
Charging documents did not mention if the alleged sexual abuse is connected with Baugh’s medical practice.
Baugh does not yet have an initial appearance date set in 1st District Court, but has been assigned to an attorney and has been assigned to a judge.
